Shri Shri Sankardev Sewa Samiti
It was our Samithi and Chairperson Ms Gayatrri who introduced me to humanitarian services as a Karyakarta based at Muscat, that laid the stepping stone for my role in Oman to help Indian diaspora needing essentials during COVID-19 COVID-19 lockdown and curfew; with me reaching nook and corners to deliver vital needs to the needy, as I am under protocol privileges. Shruthi’s mother Mrs Sujatha a resident here came to know about me from twitter as I used to communicate with Samithi and Ms Gayatrri using twitter. She sought my help to get treatment for two children who were in last stages and I readily obliged. Then she shared her WhatsApp number when I came to know that she too resides in Muscat. She invited me to her home that was a rare privilege and I was introduced to the entire family.
She sought my intervention at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Govt of Oman, to get back her daughter Ms Shruthi who was stranded in India and could not return back due to COVID-19 related restrictions. We successfully overcame that thanks to Indian Social Club and Indian embassy here. So we saw Ms Shruthi return back to join her family in Muscat in record time. Though I never met her during my visits to her home here; incidentally I went to her home and it happened to be her birthday. She came to seek my blessings when she presented a copy of her maiden publication. It was a pleasant surprise to see an young girl publish at that tender age. I went through it and our community board members who too appreciated. Later it stuck to me why not we encourage her by repainting her book and distribute to the targeted befitting group. So I put up a proposal to Ma’am Gayatrri ji who gave me the go ahead after necessary approvals from our Samiti executive board. On receiving the word of approval; I informed the family who were happy at it and ready to go for reprint as Ms Shruthi has it’s copy rights. Of course on the day she gave me the book, I saw her cupboard full of mementos that established her credentials which infact seeded the idea in me.
So it was our SAMITI that laid the foundation for me to know that lovely family.
